End of Year Party – Class Room Mom Ideas

As a Room Mom, I found that coming up with ideas for the End of Year Party can be the best part of the job. Back in 2012, this is what I came up with:

Choosing a theme for this year’s End of the School Year Celebration was easy. It is already pretty hot down here in South Florida, so it wasn’t much of a stretch to go with Tropical Beach.  We didn’t get overly creative with this party, but the children had a blast!

I went to Party City where I was able to find tropical plates for the pizza and cookies along with matching napkins and tablecloths. I was also able to get a lei for each child at $.43 each (he lowered the price from $.49 for me!). There were white, red and yellow ones.

These plates were the inspiration!

While the teacher and I got the pizza ready to be served, the Room Dad called for a few rounds of M&M Bingo. The teacher had these Bingo cards and the candy ready for us. My son won the second round and each winner got to take something from the prize bucket.

The children had such a great time!

After pizza, we offered dessert to the children. Can you see that the butter cookies are in the shape of shells? I was so excited to find them. They were actually little French butter cakes that I found at Costco. We paired that with mini chocolate brownies to make sure we had both flavors covered.

End of Year Party Snacks
Chocolate and vanilla are always a great combination!

We got to focus on the craft once the food was done. Mrs. K ordered these wonderful little cloth baseball caps for the children to decorate with fabric markers. Get ready, because I told them I would show off every cap here. (There are quite a few!!! And all photos were taken with my iPhone 3GS.) I don’t have all 25 for some reason… I don’t know if someone was absent or if I missed someone.

As the last of the kids finished their hats, the teacher put on the 101 Dalmatians movie which was a perfect way to end the day.

P.S. 2022: I miss when the children were little. I so enjoyed all the amazing opportunities and experiences that I was blessed with by being a room mom as often as possible for all three children. Even though this End of Year Party took place a decade ago, I feel like it is still a great craft idea for today’s world.
